| Nora Bär, Argentina Mrs. Nora Bär, Journalist from Argentina. Mrs. Bär has been working as a science writer since 1980. She is currently the editor of the Science and Health Section at La Nacion, Argentina’s oldest and most prestigious newspaper. Mrs. Bär has received several awards, including the ‘Longines award for excellence in journalism’, the Konex award, the René Baron Foundation’s First Prize in Science Journalism, and the ‘Buenos Aires Award for Health Journalism’. She is a member of the International Science Writers’ Association and of the Argentine National Academy of Journalism.

| Jette Sachs, Denmark Mrs. Jette Sachs, graduated in journalism in 1966, Denmark. Ms. Sachs is an independent freelancer working mostly in media training, and is also a freelance teacher with the Danish School of Journalism. She has worked mainly in electronic media and was employed for approximately 25 years at the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR), one of the major national stations in Denmark. During her career she has been an editor of national news at the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) and anchor for many years of one of the most highly regarded science and health programmes on TV.

| Michèle Biétry, France Mrs. Michèle Biétry, graduated in journalism in 1966, France. Ms. Biétry is an independent freelancer working mainly in printed media. She worked for 33 years both as a journalist and Head of Department for Science Medicine for Le Figaro, the major French daily newspaper. Ms. Biétry has received the Medicus prize from the ‘Ligue Nationale contre le cancer’ (National League against Cancer) and the Fondation de la recherche medicale (Medical Research Foundation) prize.

| Simon Heller, United Kingdom Prof Simon Heller, DM, University of Nottingham, 1989, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London, 1993 is Professor of Clinical Diabetes, at the University of Sheffield in the UK, and Honorary Consultant Physician at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. He trained in diabetes at Nottingham University Hospital, UK and Washington University in St Louis, USA. His research interests include insulin therapy, hypoglycaemia and approaches to improve patient self management. He has served on two UK Medical Research Council Research Boards. He is currently a member of the MRC College of Experts, the Scientific Review Committee of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and Diabetes UK Research Committee. Professor Heller was editor in chief of Diabetic Medicine from 2000-2004.
